Excerpts from the Operations Record Book, 1944:

14 July, 1944. Rainfall is above normal. Total in the last 36 hours, approx. 10 inches

1 August, 1944. Still raining heavily, total rainfall is now 23.6 inches. This is the heaviest Karachi area has experienced since 1894.

31 August, 1944. The total rainfall for the season is over 30 inches. This is higher than any figure on record in the area. It was demonstrated beyond question  that the airfield drainage scheme is not adequate and enormous difficulty was experienced in keeping runways even partly serviceable owing to the quantity of silt deposited by the floodwater.
