No 21 Ferry Control |
|
21 Ferry Control was established at No 48 Staging Post, RAF Mauripur, Karachi, during the early 1940s. Aircraft were flown into Mauripur from the Middle East and also arrived in India by sea, in crates. The latter were assembled at RAF Mauripur and RAF Drigh Road, Karachi. It was the duty of 21 Ferry Control, when first formed, to deliver these aircraft to the squadrons or units to which they were assigned, in any part of the Indian sub-continent, and to Ceylon. When other staging posts were formed, especially at Allahabad and Asansol, the finished aircraft were delivered there. Aircrews stationed at these bases then flew them to their ultimate destinations. 21 FC controlled all the other Staging Posts in India.
